What is V-Steam?

The V-steam is a modernized version of a centuries old Korean tradition called chai yok. It may also be referred to as yoni steams or bajos in South or Central American cultures. During the treatment, you are seated over a mixture of steaming herbs while wearing a robe to trap in the steam so the steam delivers the herbal medicine straight to the source.

FAQS

How does it work?

The formulation of a vaginal steam bath consists of aromatic, cleansing herbs that will penetrate into the uterine wall.
The therapeutic effects of thermotherapy and aromatherapy contribute to the effectiveness of this treatment.
Overall the bath aids as a uterine lavage or internal cleanse of the membranes that often accumulate incompletely flushed debris/fluids from cycle to cycle. In addition, the bath introduces healing warmth and softens and nourishes internal membranes.

What to expect?

Most everyone who tries it loves it. It’s so comforting, physically and emotionally. During the steam you will feel a warm steam as if your bottom half is sitting in a sauna. You will smell the fragrant aroma of the herbal medicine fill the room as your body absorbs the healing medicinal oils. You should leave refreshed and reinvigorated. Some women notice beneficial results with just one treatment, but often a series of treatments is required. Since the herbal steam works to penetrate the uterus and dredge out any old tissues and blood that were not properly expunged during menstruation, you may notice some discharge following the steam or changes in your next cycle. These are normal cleansing reactions and a good sign that your womb is cleansing.

How often?

That depends on your goals and the severity of your complaints. For more chronic or severe complaints more frequent steams up to 3x’s a week may be required, whereas less serious complaints may require fewer steams of once a month. Most conditions will respond to starting with one steam a week for 4 weeks t hen reducing to a maintenance schedule of 1-2 steams a month then reducing to as needed use.
For example if you have uncomfortable and irregular cycles you may want to come in weekly for a month until your cycle improves and then come the week before your menstrual cycle for maintenance care. Or for postpartum complaints you may want to come in twice a week for 2 weeks to assist in the healing process. For fertility you might want to come in for 2 steams between your menstrual cycle and ovulation. To enhance the healing effect we recommend you combine the V-Steams with acupuncture and herbal therapy. For more information contact or schedule an appointment with our staff.
